Meet Tijana Cresenzi – a student at the UX/UI Design Academy and the Dream Team Student for November 2022.
Her desire to learn something new, along with her dedication, resulted in her starting her career even before finishing the Academy and becoming a part of Anant Macedonia as a UX/UI designer.
Find out more about what Tijana shared about her career journey.
Hello, hello! First of all, congratulations on your success and the start of your career! We know you from the UX/UI Design Academy, but what would you like to share with others?
Thank you! I’m Tijana, a big fan of languages, literature, and design. I love nature, good company, and good music. I have a degree in French language and literature.
Why UX/UI design?
I chose this profession because it’s a perfect blend of analytics and creativity, areas in which I equally excel and want to develop further.
Tell us more about the UX/UI Design Academy. Did the Academy meet your expectations?
And much more than that. Honestly, I didn’t expect to learn so much in such a short time, to have so much fun throughout the process, and to meet so many amazing people.
What has your experience been like as a student? What was the biggest challenge you faced, and how did you overcome it?
Once it became official that I would attend the Academy, I could hardly wait to start. I was extremely excited because I realized that this is it, this is the profession for me. And that feeling still follows me because I’m still a student. The biggest challenge for me was the real projects and hackathons, and I was very worried about how they would go and whether I would be able to deliver solid solutions. But all of this can be overcome with a good plan and organization, research that leads to a good strategy, which will then support the good design.
Which module did you find most interesting and why?
I would highlight the Tools module with instructor Martin Tenovski because that’s when we first started designing in Figma, a moment I had been eagerly waiting for in the previous modules.
You are still a student at the UX/UI Design Academy, but you’ve already started building your career as a UX/UI Designer at Anant Macedonia. What was the process that led you here?
This opportunity came to me at a completely unexpected time while I was still a student at the Academy. But I told myself I wouldn’t miss the chance and that I would accept the challenge. With enough self-confidence, effort, and persistence, anything is achievable!
What is expected of you in the workplace as a young UX/UI designer? What would your tasks and technologies/tools be?
As a young team member, I am gradually adapting to the work habits and pace. Generally, we work with Figma, but we use additional tools depending on the needs of the projects.
And finally, what would you recommend to those who want to make a career change into the field of UX/UI design?
I encourage everyone who is wondering whether they can follow the Academy due to work/family/other obligations... Don’t give up on your dream and desire for knowledge. In my group, we have colleagues from different backgrounds, and everyone manages to be regular and excellent students, so you can do it too!
