I was honored to participate and win in Brainster's largest ever 48 hour hackathon held this weekend. ✨
We worked on a very interesting project for the social enterprise REDI Recycle ♻, whose vision is of an ecological and humanitarian nature.
Their goal is to develop greater inclusiveness of the Roma community in society, and at the same time to protect and preserve the environment through education and initiative among citizens for proper waste selection.
We combined team spirit, dedication and hard work with a lot of fun, socializing and happy moments between us as a group at the UX/UI Design Academy, but also meeting and collaborating with many new, talented colleagues from other academies.
I am happy to have worked with a designer like Lara Georgievska, my colleague from the academy and also a great team player to deliver fast and efficient design solutions.
We, as designers, successfully collaborated with the rest of the team to finally present a functional and creative solution.
The experience stays with us, and we are ready for even greater challenges! 🤩🥂

The article highlights a dynamic and educational weekend event at Brainster's offices: the largest live hackathon, where over 120 students from various Brainster academies worked together to create solutions for a mobile and internal app for REDI and its recycling initiative. The goal was to connect the organization with households, enabling more efficient waste collection and communication. Students from Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, and Project/Product Management participated, tackling everything from app design to marketing campaigns and educational strategies.
The key highlight of the event was the collaborative effort, with teams working under pressure and learning through cross-academy teamwork. In just 48 hours, students from different backgrounds worked together to craft solutions and gain hands-on experience, simulating real-world work environments. Notably, the teamwork, communication skills, and inter-academy collaboration emerged as the most valuable takeaways.
Ultimately, the hackathon emphasized the importance of teamwork, as the projects' success relied on the collective efforts of the students. This cross-functional collaboration not only helped them grow their practical skills but also instilled a sense of accomplishment and unity among participants. The best projects will be showcased at the upcoming REDI SUMMIT in November, underscoring the tangible impact of their work. The event was a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved, with a focus on both fun and learning.
